Security and Privacy Awareness for Young Adults

This course is your introduction to personal security and privacy. This class is designed for young adults between the ages of 13 and 18.

The seminar curriculum will cover:

• An introduction into your personal and private information to understand what needs to be kept secret, controlled or protected
• An overview of why your personal and private information needs to be protected
• Threats that exist out in the world and how they exploit your personal and private information
• Common predatory practices by businesses targeted towards young adults
• The risks of sharing information and the potential impacts on your livelihood, career and reputation
• The differences between random acts of information collection and targeted collection of your information
• Dispelling myths about technology use and everyday interactions with people
• How to identify when you should think twice about revealing information
• Tips and tricks to protect yourself when at home, using the internet or your phone, or just being out in the everyday world

This seminar is approximately two hours in length.
